Vermin: Mice

PESTAlthough the UK is home to over six varieties of Mouse, the greatest damage by far is caused by the most common - the 'house mouse'. Small in size 3-10cm, the house mouse has been known to reek havoc by chewing through electrical cables, food stuffs, packaging, raw materials and boxed goods, spreading disease, and actually breeding wherever they populate. Mice have a gestation period of as little as three weeks, with litters reaching 16, the young in turn reach sexual maturity in as little as six weeks. This has earned the house mouse the title of "the world's most economic and industrial pest". It doesn't take a mathematician to calculate that one pair of mice can result in 2,000 offspring in a single year.

Treatment

Following a comprehensive survey by a trained and qualified Prokill professional, plastic tamper-resistant baiting points will be placed in numerous and varied locations throughout the infested areas to coincide with the activities of the offending pest.

Mice are omnivores, feeding little and often. Extensive research and experience dictates effective control can only be reached by intense baiting, often linked with proofing measures, to prevent further ingress, together with the use of contact gels and dusts. However, considering that a fully grown mouse is able to squeeze through a gap no bigger than a ball point pen, total prevention of access to a building maybe somewhat difficult.
